All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Dentistry are initially assessed by the editorial office to ensure compliance with the journal’s scope, ethical standards, and author guidelines, as well as basic methodological and formatting requirements. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be returned to the authors without external review.

Eligible submissions are processed through the journal’s online submission system, which automatically assigns a unique manuscript identification number. All subsequent correspondence and tracking are conducted through this system.

The journal applies a double-blind peer review model. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent external peer reviewers with relevant expertise. Reviewers’ identities are not disclosed to the authors, and authors’ identities are concealed from reviewers throughout the review process.

Reviewers’ comments and recommendations are communicated to the authors for revision, where applicable. Revised manuscripts, along with authors’ responses to reviewers’ comments, are evaluated by the Editor-in-Chief. When necessary, additional assessment may be sought from a member of the Editorial Board.

Final decisions regarding acceptance, revision, or rejection are made by the Editor-in-Chief based on reviewers’ reports, the authors’ responses, and the journal’s editorial standards. Editorial decisions may be discussed during editorial board meetings to ensure consistency and scientific integrity.

Manuscripts submitted by members of the journal’s editorial staff or Editorial Board are handled according to the same peer review procedures. In such cases, all measures are taken to prevent conflicts of interest, and the involved individuals are excluded from the review and decision-making process.
